Dyed Material selection is an important link in process design,which not only affects the quality of dyeing products,but also directly relates to product cost and economic benefits.The selection of dyes should be based on fiber raw materials,color characteristics, fastness requirements, processing costs, equipment conditions, environmental requirements and other factors. The determination of the dyeing process should be determined according to the dye type,production batch, equipment conditions,production cost and other factors, and combined with the actual situation of the factory.

1.According to the nature of fiber raw materials

The appropriate dyes and processes should be selected according to the composition and content of the fibers, and the dyes commonly applicable to the two fibers should be selected as far as possible,so that the dyeing methods and processes are relatively simple.If there is no suitable, two kinds of dyes can be selected to dye two different fibers, but the process adaptability of the two kinds of dyes should be considered.For example, polyester/cotton blended products can be dyed with soluble VAT dyes,coatings,or disperse/reactive, disperse/VAT dyes.Another example is brocade/cotton interleaved material,can choose reactive dye dyeing, can also choose dispersion/active,weak acid/reactive dye dyeing process.

2. According to customer's sample requirements

Sample requirements generally include color difference,brightness,color fastness,product use,etc.For some fiber products,the applicable dye varieties are often many,but not all dyes can meet customer requirements.There are often questions about customer requirements in this area.For example,some dyes can only dye a certain color;some dyes may be suitable for deep color, some dyes are only suitable for light color;some dye fastness is good,some dye fastness is poor.This requires us to have a sufficient understanding of the application performance of all kinds of dyes,including their chromatography,brightness,color fastness,price,and so on,and then choose the most appropriate dyes according to customers' requirements for color and fastness.

A blend or interweave

If the customer needs to process a batch of brilliant green cotton products for washing clothing fabrics,the optional dyes include reactive,reductive,coating,etc.,but considering the use and cost, it is completely unnecessary to choose the VAT dyes with high fastness,high price and complex process,and the preferred dye should be paint,followed by reactive dye.

3. Basic conditions for the implementation of the process

When the dye variety is selected, the dyeing process is basically determined.Therefore, when choosing dyes, process designers must consider the implementation conditions of the process, such as the adaptability of equipment to the process, the technical literacy of operators and the level of production management,to ensure that the selected dyes and processes can be smoothly implemented.For example,the continuous rolling dyeing machine in some factories is not suitable for dyeing vulcanized dyes (a long time of wet steaming after dipping the dyeing liquid),soluble VAT dyes (acid color dipping tank shall be corrosion resistant), and some factories do not have high pressure sealing equipment,so the high temperature and high pressure dyeing process of disperse dyes cannot be implemented.

4. According to the production cost

The main factors affecting production cost include raw material cost of dyes and auxiliaries, energy consumption in dyeing process, management cost,etc.

The principle of dye selection is to choose dyes with low price, low energy consumption,easy operation and low pollution as far as possible on the premise of meeting customers' requirements on color and fastness of products,which is conducive to reducing production costs.
