How Did Silk-Making Technology Introduce to Other Countries

The Chinese learned to weave the thread into cloth. For 2 000 years they were the only peoplewho knew how to make silk. Later,silk cloth was brought to Asia and Europe, it was called “TheCloth of Kings. ”

Everyone wanted to learn how to make silk, but they kept the secret carefully guarded.

Finally the secret was stolen. In the sixth century,two monks learned about the silkworms andtheir cocoon. They spent several years in China and found a way to take some silkworm eggsout of the country. One day they hid some eggs in the canes and walked out of China withthem. It is said that the development of the silk industry in other countries came from thosefew eggs which the monks had carried out of China.
