1. Overall situation
From the perspective of the industrial chain structure, the dye and printing and dyeing industries account for a small proportion of downstream costs (dye accounts for about 10-20% of the cost of printing and dyeing, and printing and dyeing account for about 10% of the cost of printing and dyeing cloth), and the pricing of dyes is not relevant to the profitability of textiles and clothing; At the same time, due to environmental restrictions, the printing and dyeing industry has become a bottleneck in the industry chain, resulting in it having a strong pricing power for downstream. The output of printing and dyeing is mainly related to the output of textiles and garments, and has little to do with the fluctuations in the profitability of textiles and garments. As the upstream of printing and dyeing, the pricing and output of dyes are extremely limited by the profitability of textiles and garments, but are mainly affected by the operation of the dye industry itself. Therefore, the increase in dye prices has little effect on the downstream.
2. Downstream end
The downstream of the printing and dyeing industry is mainly the clothing industry, and the clothing industry is one of my country's traditional pillar industries and plays an important role in the national economy. Affected by the new crown epidemic at the beginning of 2020, most of my country's garment factories are in a state of shutdown. Coupled with the shrinking consumption, garment production is in a downward trend. According to data, in 2020, the garment output of Chinese garment enterprises above designated size will reach 22.37 billion pieces, a decrease of 8.6% compared to 2019.
1. Output of printed and dyed cloth
As far as the output of printing and dyeing fabric is concerned, according to the data of the National Bureau of Statistics, the output of printing and dyeing fabrics of printing and dyeing enterprises above designated size in my country fluctuates from 2012 to 2020. As of 2020, the output of printing and dyeing fabrics of printing and dyeing enterprises above designated size in my country was 52.503 billion meters, a year-on-year decrease of 2.34%. The latest data shows that the output from January to September 2021 was 4.4286 million tons. At present, domestic printing and dyeing is still facing the impact of multiple factors such as repeated global epidemics, energy shortages, and rising raw material prices. The industry's annual growth situation is facing challenges.
According to data from the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to September 2021, the output of printing and dyeing fabrics of enterprises above designated size in the printing and dyeing industry was 44.286 billion meters, a year-on-year increase of 21.11%, and an average growth rate of 5.34% in two years. The two-year average growth rate was higher than the growth rate of the same period in 2019 ( 4.4%), indicating that industry production has resumed and exceeded its pre-epidemic level. With the rise of the base in the same period of last year, the growth rate of printed and dyed fabric production has shown a trend of "high before and low".
2. Operating status
In terms of the operation status of printing and dyeing industry enterprises, according to statistics from the National Bureau of Statistics, the proportion of three fees for printing and dyeing enterprises above designated size in 2020 is 6.97%, an increase of 0.25 percentage points year-on-year; cost utilization and sales profit margins have declined compared with 2019. The cost utilization rate dropped from 6.06% to 5.35%, and the sales profit margin dropped from 5.59% to 4.98%. In the first three quarters of 2021, the overall operating efficiency has improved, but the pressure on business operations is still relatively high. From January to September 2021, the revenue and total profit ratio will be 208.904 billion yuan and 8.826 billion yuan.
According to the National Bureau of Statistics, from January to September, the proportion of three expenses for enterprises above designated size in the printing and dyeing industry was 6.80%, a decrease of 0.23 percentage points from the same period in 2020. Among them, 6.63% for cotton printing and dyeing enterprises and 8.11% for chemical fiber printing and dyeing enterprises, compared with the same period in 2019 Compared with the printing and dyeing industry, the proportion of three expenses for enterprises above designated size increased by 0.14%. In the first three quarters of 2021, with the gradual release of the printing and dyeing industry’s production capacity, the industry’s main operational quality indicators have been steadily improving, and corporate operating efficiency has continued to improve, but some indicators are relatively high. There is still a significant gap before the epidemic, and the industry's steady recovery foundation still needs to be further consolidated.
According to China Customs HS 8-digit statistics, from January to September 2021, the export volume of eight major categories of printing and dyeing products was 20.662 billion meters, a year-on-year increase of 28.48%, and an average increase of 2.05% in two years; the export value was 20.44 billion US dollars, a year-on-year increase of 32.31%. The average annual growth rate is 0.74%; the average export unit price is US$0.99/meter, an increase of 2.98% year-on-year, and an average growth rate of -1.48% over the two years. In the first three quarters of 2021, the export of major products in the printing and dyeing industry showed a trend of "increasing volume and price". The export scale has exceeded the level of the same period in 2019, but there is still a certain gap between the average export unit price and before the epidemic, reflecting that the current industry export market is still facing a large Competitive pressure.
1. Safety and environmental protection are essential
In terms of water pollution, the textile printing and dyeing industry's wastewater discharge accounts for about 7.5% of the national industrial wastewater statistical discharge, ranking first in the country's industrial industry. Among them, printing and dyeing wastewater is the main source of pollution in the textile industry, accounting for 80% of the wastewater from the textile printing and dyeing industry. The amount of wastewater from printing and dyeing is relatively large. For each ton of textiles processed by printing and dyeing, 100-200 tons of water are consumed, of which 80-90% becomes wastewater. The resulting wastewater mainly comes from the dyeing and finishing section. The wastewater contains dyes, slurries, additives, oils, fiber impurities and inorganic salts, etc. It is characterized by high content of organic pollutants, large alkalinity, large changes in water quality, and high color. Pollution treatment is more difficult. Dye is discharged as wastewater and enters rivers, lakes, seas and surface water. The dyes in the wastewater can absorb light, reduce the transparency of water bodies, affect the growth of aquatic organisms and microorganisms, and are not conducive to the self-purification of water bodies. Therefore, safety and environmental protection during the operation of printing and dyeing enterprises are very important.
2. Technological innovation is the key to transformation
In the future, if the printing and dyeing industry wants to achieve high-quality development, it must rely on scientific and technological innovation to accelerate technological transformation and tackle the bottleneck technologies that restrict energy conservation, emission reduction, and green manufacturing with high value-added printing and dyeing, especially for new low-pollution dye additives. Development and innovation of dyeing, salt-free dyeing, digital printing, intelligent printing and dyeing, and other printing and dyeing technology and equipment.
