Fabric weight is an important technical indicator of knitted and woven fabrics, and it is also a basic requirement in textile and apparel inspection.
The "gram weight" of textiles refers to the number of units of weight in grams as the measurement standard under a standard unit of measurement. The gram weight of the fabric is generally the weight of the fabric in square meters. For example, the gram weight of a knitted fabric of 1 square meter is 200 grams, expressed as: 200g/m²or 200gsm and so on.
Under the condition of the same composition, the higher the weight of the fabric, the more expensive; the lower the weight of the fabric, the lower the price. Gram weight is an important technical indicator of textile fabrics, such as jersey, terry cloth, PU fabric and so on.
The weight meter, also called textile fabric weight meter, is mainly used in textile fabrics, leather and other industries to test the weight of products per unit area. The weight meter is suitable for cutting round samples of various woolen, cotton, chemical fiber, knitted and other fabrics.
Lay the fabric to be inspected on the special rubber mat, place the disc sampler on the fabric, place the sampling knife on the fabric, and then pull out the safety switch of the sampling knife. At this time, press the protective seat of the sampling knife with your left hand and the right hand Rotate the round handle of the sampling knife clockwise and draw a circle to complete the sampling. Return the sampling knife switch to its position. Put the cut sample into a gram-weight electronic balance, weigh the sample weight, and multiply it by 100 times to get a sample weight of 1 square. For example: the sample weight data is 1.28 grams, then 1 square is 128 grams.
Weight example
When inspecting goods, when similar words are found in the inspection data, it is necessary to consciously check whether the data meets the requirements. These are usually very important data.
When inspecting the goods, if the factory can provide tools and engrave the unit circle, the following method will be used to check the data. If the factory cannot provide the engraving plate but can provide an accurate electronic scale, the inspector can also use a ruler, scissors, and the product cut it into a positive shape of 10X10cm and place it directly on an electronic scale to get the weight value.
(1) Gram weight/square meter: It is often used in the calculation of knitted fabrics, such as 220g/M, which means that the cloth is 220 grams per square meter.
(2) Ounce (OZ)/square meter: This method of expression is often used for woven fabrics such as woolen fabrics and denim fabrics.
(3) Millimetres/square meter: usually used to express the weight of silk fabrics.
Common conversion: 1 ounce = 28.350 grams
Generally, woven fabrics express weight in terms of warp and weft density.
The conversion method is as follows:
The conversion constant between the gram weight of 1 square meter and the millimetre: the fabric is 1 inch wide, 25 yards long, and weighs 1m/m for 2/3 of the day, equivalent to the metric system: 1 inch = 0.0254 meters, 1 yard = 0.9144 meters, 1 day Money = 3.75 grams
Area: 1 inch X25 yards=0.0254X0.9144X25=0.58064 square meters
Weight: 2/3 days money = 2.5 grams
1 millimetre (m/m)=2.5/0.58064=4.3056 grams/square meter, conversion constant=4.3056
The gram weight of square meter is converted to the number of millimetres: millimetres (m/m) = gram weight of square meters/4.3056
The minimum value of Mumi is taken to 0.5m/m, and one decimal place is kept when calculating (the second decimal place is rounded off).
